The National Day reception was held to celebrate the 83rd Birthday of H.M. the Emperor of Japan

The National Day reception was held on 7 December at the Safari Hotel (Namib room) to celebrate the 83rd birth day of H.M. the Emperor of Japan. In his speech, H.E. Mr. Hideyuki Sakamoto, Ambassador of Japan, introduced to the guests how the bilateral relations between Japan and Namibia had developed since opening of the Embassy of Japan in Windhoek last year. In response, Hon. Dr. Peya Mushelenga, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, on behalf of the government of the Republic of Namibia, appreciated the strengthening of the bilateral relations and expressed his hope that such ties will further deepen in the forthcoming year. Finally, Dr. Mushelenga proposed a toast to the good health and prosperity of H.M. the Emperor of Japan and its people. More than 130 guests enjoyed sushi, red crabs and Japanese sake (rice wine), among others, during the two-hour reception.
