Japanese TV drama “Doctor the Ultimate Surgeon” to start to air on Namibia Broadcasting Cooperation (nbc)- Total 21 Japanese TV contents to be aired on nbc

The Embassy of Japan is pleased to announce that a Japanese TV drama, "Doctor the Ultimate Surgeon" will start to air on NBC 1 at 17:00 on Saturday 12th August.

It is a part of the agreements signed between the Japan Foundation and NBC under the Foundation’s programme of "Japanese TV broadcasting abroad". 21 Japanese TV contents selected by NBC from the list offered by the Japan Foundation are to be broadcasted to the Namibian nation at large. The genres vary from drama, cartoon to documentary, spanning a broad range of topics including arts & culture, technology & economy, industry as well as nature & science. The contents were officially handed over to nbc Director General, Mr. Stanley B. Similo, by Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Shunshuke Takei on 30 June this year.
Currently the below TV contents are broadcasted on NBC, and more to come.
This is the first time the Government of Japan in cooperation with the Japan Foundation provided Japanese TV programs to Namibia, since the establishment of its Embassy in Windhoek in 2015. The cost of the broadcasting rights of 21 TV programmes worth over N$2 million (app. JPY17 million) is borne by the Japan Foundation. With this partnership, the nbc and the Government of Japan in cooperation with the Japan Foundation aim to provide Namibian audiences of all age groups with enjoyable international contents enabling the citizenry to get to know different culture. - Carnation (drama) - weekly on Monday through Thursday from 15:30-16:00 on NBC1
- Fukuoka Love Stories (drama) weekly on Sunday from 9:00 to 10:00 on NBC 3
- Fruity Samurai (cartoon ) weekday afternoon during kids time on NBC1
