Signing Ceremony for the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) in the Field of Sports between Japan and Namibia

On Wednesday, 28 October 2020, a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) in the Field of Sports between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Republic of Namibia was held at the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service. During the signing ceremony, H.E. Hideaki Harada, Ambassador of Japan to Namibia and Hon. Agnes Tjongarero, Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service officially signed the MOC.
The MOC in the Field of Sports is inspired by the desire to promote and strengthen good bilateral and cooperative relations between Japan and Namibia and to develop ties in the field of sports. Additionally, the MOC aims to enhance the happily existing friendly relations and to promote and consolidate cooperation in the field of sports on the basis of reciprocity, mutual recognition and mutual benefit.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Harada remarked, “The signing of this MOC will not only further develop the relations between our two countries, but will also lead to further exchanges and mutual understanding between the people of Japan and Namibia through sports.”
The Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service, Hon. Tjongarero, said, “The MoC aims to strengthen the ties of friendship between the two countries, promote and unite collaborations in the field of sports, on the basis of conjoint interchange, recognition and mutual benefit, which will last for a period of three years.”
The signing of this MOC forms the basis for further cooperation between both countries, including cooperation regarding the next year’s Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
