Embassy of Japan participated in the Ongwediva Trade Fair (from 28 to 30 August 2022)

From 26 to 28 August 2022, Embassy of Japan exhibited a booth at the Ongwediva Trade Fair, Namibia's largest trade fair, held in Ongwediva, Oshana Region, to introduce Japanese culture. Over 1,000 people of all ages visited the booth during the exhibition period.
 
At the Japan booth, with the cooperation of members of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), including seven JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteers who are active throughout Namibia, Japan introduced its culture through a calligraphy experience in which visitors receive their names in Japanese written in traditional way, Japanese toys, and traditional Japanese cloths, among others.
 
On August 28, the official opening ceremony of the trade fair was held by H.E. Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, Vice President of the Republic of Namibia. Ambassador Nishimaki attended the ceremony. After the opening ceremony, H.E. Dr. Mbumba and his delegation made a tour through the trade fair. H.E. Dr. Mbumba, Rt. Hon. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, Prime Minister, Hon. Lucia Iipumbu, Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Hon. Elia Irimari, Governor of Oshana region, among others, visited the Japan booth with Ambassador Nishimaki and enjoyed the Japanese calligraphy performed by JICA volunteers.
