Handover of New School Blocks to Ngweze and Kehemu Primary Schools and Kaisosi Combined School in Zambezi and Kavango East Regions

On Monday 10, Tuesday 11, and Wednesday 12 August 2020, handover ceremonies of new school blocks funded by the Government of Japan through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) were held at Ngweze Primary School in Katima Mulilo Urban Constituency, Zambezi Region, Kaisosi Combined School in Rundu Urban Constituency, Kavango East Region, and Kehemu Primary School in Rundu Urban Constituency, Kavango East Region, respectively.
H.E. Hideaki Harada, Ambassador of Japan to Namibia, officiated these events and handed over the new facility at Ngweze Primary School to Hon. Alufea Lawrence Sampofu, Governor of Zambezi Region, and at Kaisosi Combined School and Kehemu Primary School to Hon. Ester Anna Nghipondoka, Minister of Education, Arts and Culture.
Ngweze Primary School, Kaisosi Combined School, and Kehemu Primary School received a grant worth 898,122 NAD, 1,189,706 NAD, and 1,088,007 NAD, for building a new school block consisting of four permanent classrooms and one storeroom, three permanent classrooms and one storeroom, and three permanent classrooms and one storeroom, respectively.  All these new classrooms will contribute to alleviating congestion and to observing COVID-19 social distancing protocol.
The Minister and the Governor were joined by respective teachers and learners at the ceremonies and expressed their appreciation for the Government and the people of Japan.
